Gertrude Stein Political Club Endorses Roddey for Allegheny County Chief Executive 

Pittsburgh, PA (September 4, 2003)-- The Gertrude Stein Political Club of Greater Pittsburgh (GSPCGP) announced today that it has endorsed Jim Roddey (Rep) for Allegheny County Chief Executive.

For Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, the Stein Club endorsed Christine Ward (Dem/Rep) and David Wecht (Dem/Rep) who both have excellent track records in support of lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (lgbt) issues. While up to three candidates can be elected, GSPCGP found two candidates endorsable.

Endorsed candidates for other offices include:

Allegheny County Row OfficesValerie McDonald Roberts (Dem) for Recorder of Deeds. 

Allegheny County CouncilRich Fitzgerald (Dem) for district 11, and Brenda Frazier (Dem) for district 13. 

Pittsburgh City CouncilDoug Shields (Dem) for district 5.

Pittsburgh Public School BoardPatrick Dowd (Dem/Rep) for district 2.

Wilkinsburg Borough CouncilSandra L. Roberts (Dem) in Ward 1 and Patricia Baker (Dem) in Ward 3. 

In the statewide elections, the Stein Club endorsed Max Baer (Dem) for Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Election day is November 4, 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The last day to register to vote for the General Election is October 6. The Stein Club based its endorsements on candidates’ track record and their responses to the Club’s questionnaire, which emphasizes support of lgbt civil rights, reproductive freedom, and affirmative action. The Club did not make endorsements in offices for which it did not receive questionnaires from viable candidates.
