GSPCGP Resolution to Endorse Howard Dean for United States President (December 2003)

Resolution

The Gertrude Stein Political Club of Greater Pittsburgh supports and endorses Howard Dean for President of the United States.

This endorsement does not negate or question the support for Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender  (G/L/B/T) equality of other Democratic Party Presidential candidates.  We realize there are a number of candidates committed to full inclusion of G/L/B/T people in American society.  

This endorsement does not extend to any of his delegate candidates.  Delegates are endorsed separately by the membership of the organization.  We realize in the past it furthered the cause of the G/L/B/T community to endorse the best delegate candidates committed to various candidates.

Should Howard Dean not be a major contender in the Pennsylvania Primary, this resolution does not restrict us from endorsing additional candidates for President of the United States.

President is a unique office.  This does not create a precedent for early endorsements for other positions.  Nor does it necessitate early endorsement in future Presidential Elections.
